Use the Buyers Control Center Build Bill of Materials Detail screen to view detailed information about BOM planning records and modify or create production tickets for BOMs. Double click a line in the Buyers Control Center to access this screen.
The BCC Build Bill of Materials Detail screen is essentially a working production ticket. Each time a recalculate is run for this buyer and warehouse, the detail screen is updated with the new information – quantities can change, new items can be displayed, and items can be dropped, all based on the current BOM planning records and quantities in the warehouse.
Click the Lookup for each BOM item to view the Production Planning Requirements (MCE121) screen for that finished item. Item notes and resources are also available for each item.
If the required quantity of the components is insufficient, the Build Quantity column/cell is shaded red. Click the Requirements lookup to display Production Planning Requirements (MCE121) for analysis of the components. The alert color does not automatically refresh if the stock quantities are resolved. You must recalculate, press Enter on each alert build quantity or exit the detail grid and re-open to refresh.
Check the Build column check box to select BOM planning records. Click Create BOM to display the create document message. Click Yes to create MC BOM tickets for checked lines and the reset planning records status to E - Ticket entered.
You can modify quantities.
If the quantity field is changed and:
After all selected detail lines are processed, the build completion screen is displayed with any created BOM ticket numbers and/or messages. Click to the ticket number in the completion screen grid to view it in Production Entry (MCE130), where you can edit or delete the ticket.
If a created ticket has a quantity for a component that cannot be fully allocated, the quantity is set to zero or the max available by default. This default action is based on updating inventory value for that component and whether overcommits are allowed. You must check a created ticket’s component quantities manually either through editing or during confirmation.
If ticket numbers are not displayed in the build completion screen the process was unsuccessful. The Build check box on the detail screen is automatically unchecked for unsuccessful builds.
When no more detail lines exist, the main BCC screen is displayed and refreshed. If some detail lines the BOM BCC Detail screen is refreshed for any further action.
In the BCC a quantity of zero is allowed. In Production Planning Entry (MCE121) for BOMs and Production Planning (MCE230) for FMLs, zero is not allowed. A recalculation sets that planning record quantity to zero. When you click Create BOM, zero-quantity BCC records are not processed out of the BCC. You can delete them or changed the quantity to a valid value for processing. Zero quantities deselect/disable the Build checkbox for the item. Specify a quantity to automatically enable/select the build checkbox.
You can add a BOM finished item in the detail grid. The same finished item and same date cannot already exist in the BCC or in the planning record file. If a manual entry is made in the BCC for the current date and later a BOM/FML planning record is created for the same finished item and date in Planning F/M, the BCC entry remains unaffected until the BCC is recalculated. Then the manual entry in the BCC is removed and replaced by the ‘new’ planning record for the same BOM/FML date. If the manual entry is used to create a ticket and later the BCC BOM/FML recalculation performed, then the “planning record” finished item/planning date is pulled into the BCC even though a BOM/FML ticket already exists for that finished item and planning date. The quantity defaults to 1. A manually entered BOM finished item in the BCC is not added to the BOM planning file. Any recalculation or remove process removes that manually entered record from the BCC. Manual addition is useful for emergency builds only, where the build/ticket is going to be scheduled and created that day.
