Infor - formerly Aperum, Inc., (Infor - formerly Aperum) was incorporated in March 1979, as Atlantic Minicomputer Software House. Although customer installations ran the gamut from industrial to professional concerns, many customers fell into the broad range of wholesale distributors. Due to the lack of other acceptable business software and growing customer interest in the evolving FACTS system, it was decided in 1980 to change the focus of the company from that of an installer of software systems to that of a software developer. One natural area of development was the wholesale distribution market. The development philosophy adopted was to produce very powerful, easy-to-use, flexible software that would satisfy the needs of most business in wholesale distribution without becoming complicated to use.

Infor - formerly Aperum's experience with dozens of customer installations taught them to place special emphasis on the user's viewpoint in all design work. A system's success would only be as great as the user's acceptance. New features bearing a broad range of interest were constantly incorporated into the FACTS system. Interfacing on site with operators stressed the value of appealing and efficient screen layout, input prompting and defaulting, and error checking. These same customer installations made Infor - formerly Aperumaware of the needs of dealers, installers, and modifiers. Over the years special packages have been developed for performing surveys, guiding installations, and maintaining technical and end-user documentation. Coding standards have been refined so that all programs are highly structured, efficient, consistent throughout the system, and blocked for ease of modification.

Understanding that the financial applications are as important to the wholesale distributor as they are in other industries, the accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll systems were designed to be systems of the highest quality, capable of satisfying the most discriminating accountant. Then, to meet the needs of forward thinking wholesale distributors, purchase orders, order entry, and inventory control modules were designed and developed to ensure a leadership position in the wholesale distribution marketplace.
